Below you will find a free metronmone which plays through headphones, via a computer or mp3 player. It is better to listen to the metronome through a headphone (also, you are less likely to annoy your friends while practising!). However metronomes can be difficult to hear when practising harmonica, beacuse the harmonica sound is close to your ear (unlike a guitar or piano). Below is a free software metronome, comprising mp3s which run on your iPod or mp3 player Of course you use a normal metronome, They retail for around $30, and the newer electric ones are the best.

Here are the reg shots done on a clean OS. I have modified mine to have an extra foot pedal to start the drum machine. Out of interest, the zoom can obviously hook up to an amp or to a computer and quite frankly the zoom is a much better method than using computer software but they are not cheap. I usually alternate between this program and my Zoom 707 effects box which has a drum machine built in.
It does make some registry entries - I know that on this site they prefer to only deal with open source programs at this time but perhaps someone might be kind enough to make a portable launcher if you post a request. When you are playing guitar by yourself, the object is to play the guitar - not spend most of your time trying to operate a computer program. This little program combines all the essentials in a easy to use single exe program in about 850Kb after using upx. I have tried many different guitar tuner/drum machine/chord programs over the years.
