Admittedly, along the way some gameplay idiosyncrasies the original game (which I am sure fans will be sad to see let go) have been sanded away in the remake although there is certainly more DNA still present than one might first assume.
After every single mission of the game I set down the controller impressed at not only how deep the performances and writing were, but how they managed to extract the core of the original Mafia game to present it in its best light.
